Subject: Powernet: calibration periodicity

What calibration periodicity (semi annual, annual, other) is used for
RP/ HP equipment used at your facility...
We are in the transition of moving everything to annual

* handheld instruments Annual (except for Teletectors,
Semi-Annual)
*
* continuous air monitors AMS4 = Annual, air samplers (H809V,
HD28) = Semi Annual (per UFSAR)
*
*       electronic dosimeters Annual
*
* stationary (PCM, SAM, etc) IPM/SAM/PM7 = Semi Annual, ARGOS/PM12
= Annual
*
* counting equip (WBC, gamma spec, alpha / beta counters) Annual
*

Do you allow a grace period (or extension of cal due date) for RP /HP
equipment calibrations such as that specified in your TS / TRM for plant
equipment surveillances? No, the cal frequency is based on the amount of
OOT received during calibration. Every year, there is a report made to
determine if an instrument shows the capability to transition to annual
calibrations. Most instrumentation has shown that capability except for
the ones mentioned above. The report includes information on how many
instruments were calibrated and percentages of OOT. If the OOT % is less
than 10% for the year, we can consider moving out the calibration
frequency.

Thanks, Benjy
