Response from Columbia:

We have Argos 5 A/B and IPM 8s.

1) ~4 cm (Approx. 1.25 inch) for body, shoulder, shoe top. Foot ~0.4 cm
(Approx. 1/8 in) from grill. Hand ~0.4 cm from detector screen. These
distances are representative of distances of the surface being monitored, and
result in efficiencies of ~9.5 to 11.5% usually 10% on average.

2) Tc99 and approx. 150,000 dpm. We recently switch from Co60 and efficiencies
were nearly identical. Co60 being only slightly more (0.5%) - likely because
a little higher avg./max. beta energies.

Subject: Powernet: Calibration of PCMs

Hello all,
Davis Besse would appreciate answers to the following questions regarding
personnel contamination monitors:

1. At what distance from the detector do you calibrate your PCMs? (contact,
1 inch, 3 inches)

2. What isotope and activity source do you use for calibration?

Thank you in advance!
