Palo Verde uses the DMC2000GN with different calibration factors for ISFSI and power entries. We use them with Sentinel.
I accidentally neutron activated a small batch of DMC2000GNs once, while testing them in a higher energy neutron field during a power entry. It took a few days for them to clear the SAM. Was able to make a test entry without an issue. The key thing is to do a direct measurement with the EDs and passive dosimeters and phantom to determine the right CF. The neutron-gamma conversion material is similar to that of the Siemens dosimeter and will be energy dependent. We use the Holtec system and the duration with the cask nearly full of water between decon and welding is short and neutron dose rates are so low (<1 mrem/hr remball), we couldn't get positive results on our passive dosimeters. This also means you occupational exposure from neutron is not significant. We were able to get enough duration and slightly higher neutron rates (2-3 mrem/hr remball) during the helium drying phase to get a positive result. I'd expect this phase with helium is where the factor would be generated as this is the phase during drying and insertion into the transport cask where most occupational exposure will be received. We have a couple sites that have recently bought some DMC2000GN units and will be looking to do this test. Do you use it with sentinel? If so what version. We are using version 1.08.04. How do you use it in your neutron dose tracking program. Have you used it with any ISFSI campaign.
