From Callaway
1. Callaway formerly allowed DLRs to be taken home, but has recently changed to require that DLRs be left onsite and placed in a rack on site. 2. Callaway changed because of issues with high and variable background in workers’ homes. There were workers whose DLR recorded 60- 100 mrem every year in their homes. This was verified through several years of data and by placement of dosimeters in their homes. 3. Callaway workers do not wear their DLR unless they are entering the RCA, therefore, each person with dose on their DLR but no RCA entry is assigned 0 dose, since their DLR was sitting in the rack during the whole of the monitoring period. Does your site allow DLRs to be taken home? 2. How is background subtracted – does your site use controls or something else? 3. How does your site assign dose recorded on DLRs for individuals that did not enter an RCA (such as personnel issued DLRs for E-plan response) during the monitoring period?
