THE WEEKEND NEWSLETTER
AMERICA'S NEWSCHANNEL MSNBC
Saturday November 23, 2002- Sunday November 24, 2002

We have a real treat for history lovers this weekend. On SUNDAY at 8pm ET we
premiere NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER: THE SEARCH FOR KENNEDY'S PT 109. Dr. Robert
Ballard leads a National Geographic expedition to the Solomon Islands in search of the
sunken wreck of John F. Kennedy's PT 109. Ballard, who is best known for his 1985
discovery of the Titanic, locates wreckage that matches the approximate dimensions of
a Mark 18 torpedo tube -- the kind carried by PT 109. Could it be the remains of
Kennedy's ill-fated ship? To find out for sure, Ballard employs an arsenal of deep-sea
exploration's latest innovations -- including Little Hercules, a remote-controlled
submersible robot designed to get up close and personal with the wreck and send back
high-definition video.
If you are traveling for the holiday this weekend, have a safe journey. And
Happy Thanksgiving.
Now, here's a look at the weekend schedule of documentary programs.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23
6AM ET
HEADLINERS & LEGENDS: WILL SMITH
Before he finished high school, he helped make Rap music mainstream. Now he's one of
the hottest names in Hollywood. Will Smith has done it all. Along the way he wound up
millions of dollars in debt, but bounced back like a true prince.

7AM ET
HEADLINERS & LEGENDS: HALLE BERRY
She's playing James Bond's leading lady in the 20th 007 film. Her beauty has landed
her on magazine covers and movie screens and her talent has earned her an Oscar. But
behind the dazzling smile, Halle Berry is an actress who has seen more than her fair
share of heartache. At a young age she found the sense of determination that has
carried her as far as she could dream and then some.

12PM ET
HEADLINERS & LEGENDS: DON KNOTTS
He was the nervous man on "The Steve Allen Show." He played Mr. Furley on "Three's
Company." But most of all, he is known as Mayberry's Barney Fife. Don Knotts not only
played one of TV's most beloved characters of all time, he invented him. Behind the
bumbling persona that seems so natural is a man whose perfectionism has exacted a
considerable toll, affecting both his personal relationships and his health.

1PM ET
HEADLINERS & LEGENDS: DICK VAN DYKE
Dick Van Dyke has been entertaining audiences for decades. Behind the scenes he lived
a secret life, which included an addiction to alcohol and an obsession with privacy.
Join us as we take a look into the real life drama of a legendary performer.

2PM ET
HEADLINERS & LEGENDS: TIM CONWAY
He is the ultimate second banana. From "McHale's Navy" to "The Carol Burnett Show,"
Tim Conway is known for his oddball characters. And like the hapless little guys he's
played, Tim Conway's successes were tempered by plenty of failures. Though he makes
millions laugh, few get to know the private man behind the joke and the smile.

America."
