THE WEEKEND NEWSLETTER AMERICA'S NEWSCHANNEL MSNBC Saturday November 23, 2002- Sunday November 24, 2002 We have a real treat for history lovers this weekend. On SUNDAY at 8pm ET we premiere NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER: THE SEARCH FOR KENNEDY'S PT 109. Dr. Robert Ballard leads a National Geographic expedition to the Solomon Islands in search of the sunken wreck of John F. Kennedy's PT 109. Ballard, who is best known for his 1985 discovery of the Titanic, locates wreckage that matches the approximate dimensions of a Mark 18 torpedo tube -- the kind carried by PT 109. Could it be the remains of Kennedy's ill-fated ship? To find out for sure, Ballard employs an arsenal of deep-sea exploration's latest innovations -- including Little Hercules, a remote-controlled submersible robot designed to get up close and personal with the wreck and send back high-definition video. If you are traveling for the holiday this weekend, have a safe journey. And Happy Thanksgiving. Now, here's a look at the weekend schedule of documentary programs.
