I'm used to the Linux and Windows world, where printing "just works." I've spent hours with lpadmin and the newer Print Manager GUI and it just doesn't work with remote, non-postscript printers.
I have a blog entry on how to replace Solaris printing with CUPS printing (CUPS packages come with the Solaris "Software Companion" DVD (SFW* packages)). I'll probably try the suggestions above to see if it's reasonably possible yet to print from Solaris on remote, consumer-brand printers. http://blogs.sun.com/DanX/entry/using_cups_print_server_for This message posted from opensolaris.org
