The difference between your setup and ours may be the difference in behavior. Will spend a bit more time on this this week. Meanwhile, there is something you could try:
/usr/bin/disable <printer> and print to see if you get some data in /var/spool/lp/temp ? I am suspecting is the pixmap file is being incorrectly processed.
