FYI ....

I can now print okay to the "Epson Stylus Photo R200" printer from both 
the "Solaris Print System" and CUPS ....

I rebuilt the esp gs package using the Sun Studio compilers and the 'gs' 
crash goes away (see bug report above).

So I can now print okay to the printer, but it is a bit slow though.

I now also understand why the Solaris print group want to add the cups 
bits into the esp gs installed on the system (usr/sfw/bin/gs); it will 
allow printers like this one to be supported on solaris.
