hey paul,
so with the old epson inkjet stylus color 740i used the foomatic/stcolor
driver (the recommended default). i don't remember if i tried others.
with the new hp deskjet 5940 i tried a _bunch_ of different built in
and they all had a more serious issues of spitting out an extra page of
colorful garbage. eventually i downloaded HP-DeskJet_5940-hpijs.ppd
from:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=HP-DeskJet_5940
and installed it into:
/usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/system/foomatic/HP
and updated:
/usr/lib/lp/model/ppd/ppdcache
now i'm using the following recommended driver:
foomatic/hpijs
and i can print without the extra page but stuff still get's cut off.
do you really think it's a .ppd file problem after seeing the same
issue with two different printers and drivers?
