spring on a national id and most people gave it no chance of happening for
political reasons. There might be a
back door to a national ID if federal legislation is passed for standardized

As we all know, the Individual Unique Identifier is
not finalized yet under HIPAA at the current moment. With all this HIPAA
environment (Privacy and standard transactions) starts influenzing how we do
business, where is the industry moving currently in term of the identifier used
to identify member? Is the industry Move away or keep the SSN? Unique number
assigned by the organization/health plan? This new issues will change the way the member cards
