I went to 'a good reliable supplier' (er hello 'Contact') and got them to
register davidtownend.com. I didn't register davidtownend.co.uk. But that
has now been taken....And if I ever wanted it, Contact told me 'I'd have to
pay the man'. Whoever he is ?

I am swimming in a sea of piranha's ! What to do ?

D:- There aren't actually that many piranha's in the internet industry -
sharks got em all.

You can join Nominet for ?400.00 then pay ?100.00 per year and register .uk
domains
for ?5.00 each or you could pay the ?90.00 to register 1 domain through them
direct.
or
Find someone who did and pay ?7.00 - ?15.00 a throw

Best advice would be to:-

Choose your domain name.
check all variants.
purchase the ones that you don't want others to have from the usual cheap
sources.

Do you know WHO registered the domains that were all of a sudden not
available?

If you think the domain is a trademark, use dispute resolution through
Nominet (for uk domains).
