Adding a profile to each image adds about 4k. This would quickly add up if
your webpage had several images on in.
There is a better way, however.

Instead of adding a profile to each image, you can specify an HTML tag which
tells browsers that support icc profiles to use that profile for the whole
page. This means that images are colour managed, but the whole page size
only gowes up by 4k, not 4k per image.

The HTML tag is as follows

<body iccprofile="Profiles/srgb.icm"> where Profiles/srgb.icm is replaced by
the link to where you store the profile on the server.

This can easily be done in Adobe Golive using the Page Tag (where you can
also set the page title etc)

As far as i know, no Windows browser supports profiles. IE & safari on the
mac supports profiles. Netscape (up to version 6) doesn't. I've not loaded
version 7, so I don't know about that one.

Although I agree that everyones monitor is different, I think that by
setting up your colour to an average standard helps. Also, as new browser
versions become available, if your website is already using profiled images,
the colour can only improve.
