Hi Everyone

I understand it is normal practice to introduce yourself. So here I am...

David Purdie - photographer living in Hackney, London. Trained as an artist but needed to earn a living on something other than shelf stackers wages, so told people I was a photographer. Enough believed me and now 14 years later, I still am.

I produce mainly corporate stuff, recruitment, annual reports and the like. Have recently shot stock libraries for a government department, and a bank. This may be counter productive in the end, but in the short term is a good job. I do my own editorial projects, having done a series on dumped cars for the Independent, a year with an amateur football team for er... well no-one yet. I am currently doing a behind the scenes story at the foreign office, provisionally for the Sunday Times mag - but it could end up anywhere.

On the tech side I have shot film and scanned for several years, but am now going the whole digital hog with a Canon 1Ds, which I think matches the bulk of what I have in the past shot on medium format, and scanned on Imacon. Indeed I am selling practically everything non dig, possibly even the scanner - though it will go last. In addition to the usual inkjet set up I have been using a Cone Piezography system for a couple of years, which I love.

I hope I can be of use from time to time, and I love getting squillions of emails, even if I never get time to read them, it at least lets me know that BT haven't pulled the plug.

all the best

David Purdie
