Hi Listees

I have just received some digital submission guidelines from a picture
library that I would like to submit work to in the future. Included in the
list of requirements is a list of digital cameras and equipment that they
will accept images from. The Canon D60 and 10D have not been tested but
are not likely to be approved (I've asked) as they are not in the 11mp
range.

Here is an extract of the guidelines

<No current 35mm based digital camera bodies can produce 28mb files and so
the files will need interpolating up to achieve A4 at 300dpi. The best
methods for doing this are currently under review.

Cameras that have been accepted so far are:
Kodak Pro DCS 14n
Canon 1DS

Cameras that have not been accepted are:
Fuji Finepix S2 Pro
Nikon D100
Nikon D1x

Others may be added to this list, testing involves comparing a scanned film
original with the same image shot on a digital body, only a close match in
quality will gain approval.

Generally the more native pixels available the better, medium and large
format backs are more likely to deliver the quality required.

We have only accepted cameras with 11 million pixels or above at the moment,
this seems to be the bench mark number of pixels to achieve an
un-interpolated image of sufficient size.>

My question is this - basically they are not anti-digital and they do say
that they will test other digital cameras - which is good - and I want to go
back to them with a reasoned argument about why the D60 etc should be
actively considered rather than just dismissed as not having sufficient
pixels, but I lack the technical expertise/confidence to do so - which is
where you lot come in :-} .

Now, I know that 11mp is better than 6mp but as they are talking about A4 at
300dpi I think that the D60 and the 10D are capable of excellent quality
(upsized in Genuine Fractals). Also, as they have already rejected the
Nikon D100 do you think this will be an unwinnable case? (I am assuming the
D100 produces similar quality to the D60 but I don't know as I have never
used the Nikon).

If any of you have any views or any persuasive arguments, or can direct me
to any direct comparisons between D60 and scanned trannies I would be v
grateful to hear from you.

Thanks in advance.

Amanda D'Arcy
