I'd hazard a guess that many of the suits in a city office couldn't tell the
difference between a good photograph of a building v a snap.

Just the number of zeros on the cost of it or their bonus cheque.

Dear David

On a poor monitor incorrectly set and viewed in a brightly lit office perhaps it might be an issue. However, photographs of properties produced for the likes of Savills usually are shown as 10x8's or larger, and also used to illustrate the brochures specially produced to sell the particular property. The difference of image quality can make a huge impact on the ease of selling a property and the amount realized for it, and the same goes for any product in any market!

The difference between photographs taken by someone with basic or inadequate knowledge/ability/time/equipment to those produced by an experienced professional photographer, equipped to do a decent job would be very obvious to even the most ardent widget or bean counter. Poor photography can seriously damage one's bottom line!

Digital to many out there is just another word for cheapness/anyone can do it if they spend a few hundred pounds. After all folk that's what the office computer is for isn't it!

Prodig is principally a list for full time professional photographers and image makers. Whilst we have a welcome for those not so engaged, it's not surprising that many here feel very unhappy with the idea that perhaps their skills, and high levels of commitment and investment have been devalued by some. As a matter of interest I still shoot a considerable amount of material on 4x5 for clients who are very accountant orientated! Perhaps we need more client education?

Cheers

Richard
