I specialise in diamond jewellery and have been digital for two and a half years with a lot of experimenting. Without doubt a specialised macro lens will be an absolute must. Digital is ruthless at exposing optics and ordinary view camera lenses are woeful. Without doubt the 80mm Macro-Digitar is the best I own but the sweet spot is between f11 and f16.5. The sharpness is breathtaking, particulary with the 16m pixel chip less so with the 6m pixel Philips chip (it figures) Outside this and the performance drops of dramatically. It is possible to break the habit of f32 and smaller which I used to use when shooting film. I hear good things about the 120mm Macro-Digitar also and it's next on my shopping list. The two lenses I also use of a Digiflex with a 6m pixel sensor are the Nikon 105mm micro and 85mm PC micro. Both are excellent but not quite as special as the Schneider.
