Dear List,

Well, after signing off for a two or three months, I have re-subscribed to
ProDig. Even though many of us know each other already, it is perhaps
timely for me to bring you up-to-date with who I am and what I do.

I am a photographer and provider of high-end digital services. I moved to
Newcastle upon Tyne from London in the winter of 2000 and, thanks to the
wonders of broadband, my client-base remains almost entirely London-based.

My photographic career started in the London advertising scene but now the
bulk of my photographic income comes from print and library sales.

The past two and a half years have seen a dramatic increase in the volume of
work I produce on the Digital Services side. I specialise in scanning,
retouching and printing for other photographers. Scans are generated on a
Flextight PIII - the first step in a highly accurate, colour managed
workflow. My studio is entirely Mac-based and we output files via three
Epson 1160's (one carrying Lyson's Small Gamut inks and the other two
carrying Lyson Fotonic) and an Epson 9600 wide-format printer. All devices
are regularly profiled by Neil Barstow, apart from the monitors which I
calibrate and profile myself with a Gretag EyeOne spectrophotometer.

I first subscribed to the list in 2000 at the start of my digital career and
after two and a half years, I couldn't quite keep up with the
ever-increasing traffic so decided to have a break.

However, I have missed tapping into the vast wealth of knowledge and
expertise on the list and was feeling that I had was becoming a little too
insular - so easy to do when working with computers 24/7!

I shall look forward to listening in again and I hope I can manage to make
worth-while contributions myself <G>.

Best wishes,

JL
