you are not thowing naway QUALITY which wasn't there in the first
place. DO you get more / better (usable) colour whan going RAW > ARGB
than RAW > sRGB or Jpeg sRGB? Welll RAW will always be better than Jpeg
but the other 2? To really find out you'll have to do some testing with
a profiled printer.

yes. 
but all can be done well if it's done properly.
going up in SW is enough to wory about for now -
don't lose any sleep. [BUT make sure you have a copy of that old monitor profile]
