Paul
The reason the machine are so expensive is that they are DESIGNED and
manufactured to a HIGH standard. They also do not sell in the same quantity
as PC vanilla boxes so you have to pay a slightly higher price (the
software, and even hardware, that comes with the machines also contains more
utilities than the Windows OS's). Don't have my comparative calculator handy
but I think the 30% also seems rather high to me.
OTOH, Microsoft do not care a toss if their OS resides in a Rolls Royce or a
Sakoda - old version or new version, all the same when compared to a
Roller).
Rather than think of myself as a "muggins," I prefer to think of myself as
someone who likes well crafted, lovingly created machines and willing to pay
a little extra, Try working on your "average" PC without having to search
for screwdrivers, long-nosed pliers, spanners and a box of plasters standing
by because you know you're going to cut yourself to pieces while trying to
connect that ribbon or replace that new floppy drive that can only be placed
once you've taken out the CD drive and the power pack and....etc, etc and so
forth.
No, not a muggins me but a discerning buyer... :-))
