It all revolves around the equation Power = volts x current

So if you pull 1000w that would be 1000 /12volt (car supply) = 83.3rep amps!!
This will certainly burnt out that poor little cigarette lighter. Of couse packs are designed to build up this power gradually, (or we would be con stantly blowing fuses in the studio) even if it was over 10 seconds that would be 8.3 amps/ second. Still too much for the limited wiring of a car. You would have to connect straight of the battery and drawing that kind of power would put untold strain on the system even with the engine running. You would probably burn out your alternator, its just not designed for this purpose.


Normans have a cig lighter recharger for there battery packs, possibly a better option. Or if you want more power, a portable 240v generator
