You can try the following if you are confident with Terminal window command
lines:

To perform them on Jaguar or Panther, open your Terminal and type :

sudo periodic daily
sudo periodic weekly
sudo periodic monthly

To do this, simply open your Terminal and type:

sudo update_prebinding -root / -force

Then, enter return, type your password, and enter return again.

Once the command has exited, immediately reboot your computer.

I think someone posted the above here. I did succeed in running the above
commands but if I try now, the cursor goes to the password but when I try to
type, nothing! I've fallen back on MacJanitor to run the scripts.
