I recently installed panther onto my Mac, but now seem to be having problems
with photoshop CS crashing.

Several people have complained of crashing associated with MacOS X, and I believe that this may just be down to bad installation of either or both of the System or the Application due to not all the components being loaded.

This is no more than a surmise on my part, but I think that incorrect setting of permissions can have a bearing on the behaviour being described. This, at either the installation or the subsequent working of the application due to missing or unlocatable portions of the software.

I read somewhere, and subsequently followed the procedure of repairing permissions on the disc immediately prior to installation of any System upgrade and immediately after that upgrade, and the same when installing Application software. The only reason I offer this information is because I have not suffered from some of the numerous mysterious crashes that I have seen reported in the List.

I can imagine certain scenarios that incorrect permissions coupled with lax error trapping could result in imperfect installations, and then unexplained problems later, so there may be some grain of truth in the recommendations I have followed. One can only try to see whether this is beneficial. Perhaps someone who has programming knowledge may be able to offer greater insight, but overall I am very happy with 10.3.2 and Photoshop CS, and as those who see some of my files will vouch, they are rarely vanilla, flat files.
