In 2002 I had a catastrophic hard drive crash... lost 80 gigs of photos. I went to my local computer parts dealer to buy a big hard drive to add to my system... I told the techie that my plan was to manually dump all of my new files to the seperate drive at the end of each day. He said "why not put in a Level1 RAID so it will do that automatically?" "What? You can do that automatically???"..... I now have 2 servers each with 4 120Gig physical drives... the mirroring brings the total storage down to 240Gigs per server. I'm not backed up against fire and theft... but it sure gives me peace of mind that a hard drive crash won't be a problem.
