There are many ways to skin a cat and Adobe usually provides a large number of ways of doing things and arranging information. Since the File Browser is a separate interface then maybe they will develop it further and make it endlessly customisable - tabs, pulldown menus the lot - then we will all be happy.
Since this is probably veering off topic let me just recommend to ProDiggers that they do experiment with the File Browser and set it up in different ways - small thumbnails with large previews but no metadata - small previews with lots of metadata etc.
See what works for you - save them as workspaces and then maybe add some actions to flip between them - it is a really useful way of creating slick workflows.
