Hi Graham, I can highly recommend an EyeOne Monitor (more expensive than the Display 2 as it is a spectrophotometer) used with BasICColor Display. This combination gives great monitor profiles, the result is very much like looking at a print. It's taken a while to find a 'sweet spot' but have now got what I consider to be ideal settings in the SW for my Apple LCDs...
