When one pays with credit card to Paypal that protection is lost!
Read carefully the agreement with Paypal. It basically says that you buy "credit" from Paypal and when you use that "credit" it is independent of the credit card transaction. The credit card company can not help you since you properly got your "credit", even if the item purchased is a fraud or defective. As presumably everyone knows, Paypal is owned by Ebay.
