Hi List,
Many thanks for your all your replies and suggestions
regarding my wallpaper patching problem..! Apologies
for the length of time it's taken me to reply/report
back..
Using the patch tool didn't work because of the
pattern of the border.. (Patch uses the underlying
pixels to blend in the new section, and as this was a
border with flowery patterns the resulting patch
looked bizarre!)
However, I managed to do it pretty convincingly by:
Selecting the border with a rectangular marquee,
cutting it away leaving a white area. Then selecting a
1px high row of pixels from just above the white area
and pasting it down into half of the white area,
(stretching it with free transform). I then repeated
this with pixels from just below the white area.
This then gave me a section of vertical stripes where
the border was that matched (more or less) the
tonality of the wallpaper on either side. I applied a
small amount of Gaussian blur to this section, and
then used the patch tool to drop another section of
wallpaper over the blurred/stripey area. The patch
tool then took these values as a source for the blend
and - hey presto!
It looked pretty good!
Hope this 'round the houses' technique is of some
use..!?
Best wishes,
Barry
