Should we invest in a huge 1 Terabyte Disk, get all the images on to this and then start from there or is there an easier way?
Unless it's changed (unlikely) since the version we used, you don't <have> to have all the pictures online to use Portfolio as a database. You can write your files to an archive disc (we still use CDs) and drag and drop these onto a Portfolio catalogue.
You do all your keywording in this catalogue, then when a file subsequently comes up in a search Portfolio will tell you which disc to insert to access the original file.
As for keywording tips, it depends on the criteria you're going to search by, but I'd be delighted to read anyone else's methods on this.
