it is somewhat irelevant (being quite misleading) to view camera
profile gamut volume in CThink.

The colour space defined by a camera profile does not necessarily mean
that the perimeter is full of colour from the camera. (as it would with
a printer, where the colours of the chart as scanned do actually define
the gamut boundary).

yes
Don Hutcheson's Best RGB (no connection with best RIP) was intended to
contain scans as well as he thought practical. This means it's quite a
bit bigger that ARGB. But nowhere near the size of those C1 profiles
you mentioned.

you should look at Lstar RGB from karl Koch at color-solutions then
(Karl wrote the original eciRGB.

I don't think that's why it gives better results. Although the WP of a
profile is relevant, it's the gamut that's the issue here.

OK
as long as a client is respecting the embedded profile you should be
fine.

you may be right

you'd lose what you originally gained, just try it, the conversion will
clip, just like the original one was doing.

yes, a lot
however, although it's immensely important it's little discussed.

To me this is an extremely important issue, since, everywhere, every day,
digi users are clipping scans and camera files in one fell swoop as
they convert images to their chosen workingspace.
