Is there a proper manual available for this programme, or just help? Cheers,
To the best of my knowledge, there is no proper manual. The online help in PhotoDesk is pretty good at telling you how to use certain features. What's really missing; and what I think you're asking for is something that tells you more than just how a feature works, but rather explains a logical way to string a bunch of neat features together into a productive workflow. Other than some of the Kodak sponsored training that I've heard of I know of no other concise way to get some of this info. And unfortunately its info that you probably really need to get the most out of the camera. Kodak cameras and their workflow run contrary to what many others do. If for instance you're used to Nikon DLSRs and you apply that way of working to Kodaks you may be sorely disappointed. This is part of why early 14n reviews and press were often quite negative. The camera had faults to be sure but they would be dramatically enhanced by those that didn't really understand Kodak's way of working. People that had previous experience with Kodak cameras generally really liked even the early 14n. Those with no prior Kodak experience and no patience to learn the methods pretty much universally hated the camera. It would be wonderful if there was something like Real World PhotoDesk but that's not going to happen. Kodak's user base is small relative the Photoshop and ACR; and PhotoDesk goes through major updates that alters key features on a fairly frequent basis. That renders anything in print out of date in very short order. Even the printed manuals that come with Kodak cameras are often out of date by the time you get them due to firmware changes that alter/add features. The best single source I've found for assistance with Kodak DSLR and PhotoDesk or Camera Manager issues is the Kodak forum on Rob Galbraith's site:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php
Several Kodak employees contribute there regularly including some of the key people involved with developing the software. Browse through the archives or register and post your questions there. The site gets very active around the release of a new product or software update and then it tends to quiet down for a while. Good luck...
