Jeremy I think that it's important to get the 'dust thing' with a digital camera into proportion. Sometimes it's a problem, occasionally it's a nuisance but mostly it is fine - just another small hassle to deal with on a job. I've been shooting with a Canon 1ds for two years, often in dirty, dusty, humid and sometimes hostile environments. Yes, my advice would be to fit a zoom lens in such conditions and keep it in place if possible. However, if a great picture presented itself which needed a different lens, I'd always go for it and worry about dust on the sensor once I'd got the shot in the bag! > I get by with four lenses on the Contax > fine but use zooms almost exclusively on the Nikons. Forget the dust thing, just choose what fits your vision and workload best. Me? I wouldn't be without my 14mm lens, the one I always reach for when I'm struggling to make an interesting picture on a dull assignment. Usually does the trick!
