The great Walter Benser once looked into my camera bags at the start of a trip I was making and laughed. 'You also take a few rolls of tungsten film, just in case,' he said. We both agreed that we hardly ever used the tungsten film but it was nice to have along on trips until it became outdated and was thrown away, to be replaced by a few rolls more. The same applied to a few rolls of very fast film; nice to have along, in case.

Now a 1ds can shoot tungsten and fast film at the switch of a dial I don't need the rolls of tungsten anymore but I do still have a need for film where it might be better. Film is infinitely better when the battery of the 1ds is flat. ;-)

Anyone want a box of rapidly ageing velvia?
