The problem I am having is that on screen this all
looks fine - but when I come to print on my 1290, I
see distinct arched areas of banding.

It's probably worth mentioning that although my screen
is correctly calibrated using an eye one monitor, the
printer is still using Ilford's website profile to go
with the smooth pearl paper I am using.
Hi Andrew. I'd say it is an issue that would certainly be diminished with a custom profile if not completely solved. The 1290 is difficult to profile really well I'm told because of the crossover with the "light" versions in its six inks - cyan and magenta. The bit you have a problem with is the hardest bit to get right. I have no experience of the Ilford profiles you mention. I once had a banding problem in a graduated dark magenta which I couldn't get rid of but didn't show in high quality repro much to my relief. Just in case, are your print settings correct such as the resolution - 1440 dpi. Hopefully much cleverer people than me will pitch in.
HTH. Patrick.
