I found this: http://apache2triad.net/ it is no charge, very simple setup on a
Win2000 computer (they also have linux versions).
This will install apache, php, python, etc, most things you need. I have the
apache web server working perfectly with virtual name
(not IP) - with SSL no problem at all, very nice. I think this means I have it
installed correectly. It has xmail for email which I
have not yet been able to get working, I think because I need to read more.
This is a quick way to get a lot of the programs
installed an working on your computer.

I am sold also and would like to begin working with Python for an eventual
conversion of a very large application (almost 1 million
lines of VFP code) over the next 3-4 years. It would be great if this group
could agree on a 'standard' installation of apache
andpython,e tc for Win2000 and Linux so everyone who is interested could be on
the same page. This may not be important for Ed and
others who are experienced with these programs, but for all of us who don't
know anything very well except Windows and vfp, it
would help. Lots of times, I see posts here about this and that and I would
like to try it, but I am lost because my computer is
not setup exactly like the people who make the post. What is nice about
apache2triad, is that all the directories, setup, logs, etc
are the same for Linux and Windows. They did that purposely. For example, when
I setup my virtual name hosts, I used the same conf
files for Linux and Windows. For perl, you use the same first line in the code,
etc.

For those who followed my PHP tutorials, it should be pretty clear by
now that I'm a PHP fan at heart. That's why it was a surprise even to
myself that I started learning -- and enjoying -- Python
