3. Textdrive (the StrongSpace people) have annouced their new
www.bingodisk.com service - $200/year for 100G online storage. All
access is via WebDAV. There are no monthly plans - you have to make a
year commitment. Sounds great, but Textdrive's hosting track record is
just so scary ... AND ... just tried to visit bingodisk.com and its
DOWN. Another limitation of this service is a max of 10G
bandwidth/month.
I'm puzzled. So you get 100GB of space but you won't be able to use it
for 10 months? :) That's what it sounds like - you pay for a year, but
the first month, you get to use 10GB, then the second month, you get to
use 20GB, etc.
I dunno. If I was paying for 100GB, I guess I'd kind of want it all.
And is that 10GB just up, or both up and down? I mean, suppose I had 75
GB backed up, and then... I needed it because my original box crashed. I
could only recover 10GB the first month, then another 10GB the second
month?
Either I'm confusing, or they're shysters. :)
Anyone else have some experiences/recommendations to share?
Nope, but I'm watching. It seems that with a terabyte disk drive going
for $40 (or something like that), you could get more than 100GB for a
reasonable amount. I'd be looking at backing up 400-500 GB, for example,
although I guess I'm kind of a packrat.
