I looked, and Word had miscorrected my E-mail address. If I had been
looking away at that moment, I would not have known.
Agreed. I'm getting pretty good at detecting where people have
written something they didn't intend, courtesy of auto-correct.
I do not run spell-check, with or without auto-correct. Sometimes I
have to deal with errors, but at least they're mine.

An evil spelling checker might correct this to "Cavil".
Occasionally, these miscorrections can be amusing, but since
that is at the expense of someone else, it is best stamped out.
