Why are you worried about people on the wireless network, which the Mac user has access to if I read correctly? Is the wireless not running security?

No it is not. The reason is simple: We have conference space, and presenters from outside the agency do presentations here frequently, sometimes in the evenings or on weekends. These presenters usually bring their own laptops for PowerPoint displays, and sometimes need to have internet access on those machines. These presenters are, of course, accompanied by staff members. Forgetful, abesent-minded, sometimes quite frivolous-headed staff members. If I passworded the wireless, then I would be getting phone calls after hours from staff members who can't remember the password.

Since I am no one's supervisor, and my needs/interests are deemed to be a lower priority than those of the "real" staff, management is not sympathetic to my desire not to be disturbed at home. They would rather piss me off than piss off a presenter.

The WiFi is "throttled" so it can't be usefully accessed from locations more than a half a dozen feet outside the building, so it's not credibly at risk of misuse from the typical (and apocryphal) "parked car", or from neigboring residences. But the clientele we serve during ordinary hours come inside that radius.
