Bit late, maybe, but from Royal Mail, on the preferred way to address letters
http://services.royalmail.com/delivery/mail-advice/postcodes-addresses-expla ined#3400054 "ADDRESS IS IT REQUIRED? INFORMATION Mr A Smith When applicable Addressee's Name Acme Plc When applicable Company/Organisation Acme House Yes Building Name (except if it has a number) 3 High Street Yes Number of building and name of thoroughfare Hedle End Yes but only if a similar Locality Name road name exists within a Post Town area SOUTHAMPTON Yes Post Town (please print in capitals) SO31 4NG Yes Postcode (please print in capitals) You do not need to include a County name provided the Post Town and Postcode are used." FWIW, my guess is that all British CRM and accounting programs have the post code as a separate field (and, when you insert the postcode, will automatically convert any lower case letters to upper case). In fact Sussex was just that when I was young, sigh, and not east or west Sussex. But like I said, in theory all you need is a house name or number and the post code. In practice they still want a whole lot of writing for the sake of it. Al -----Original Message----- oops, My <County> should have read <Town> As Andy says, no need for county if you have the postcode.
