I had a copy of Windows 1.x given out free by ms at a meeting of the PC Users Group in London sometime in the mid 80s. On the PC's available at the time it was slower than watching paint dry, I couldn't get my management even vaguely interested - they had taken the giant step from mainframes to minicomputers and could see no further.
