Hmm. 550K records means 550K insert statements.

I'd probably recommend one of the upsizing tools for moving VFP data to your MySQL database. It'll perform much better and get you to your data quicker.

If you haven't installed MySQL already, give MariaDB a spin. It is a fork of MySQL, by the original MySQL creator and team, and is more open-sourced than, and supported by, the (now) Oracle owned MySQL. It should have better performance as I believe that it takes better advantage of multi-cpu computers. As of now, it is fully compatible with MySQL.
