Hey Dave, Pretty funny comment re:Invigorate.
Yeah - I agree - makes sense - battery is basically dead. And, yes - I really did NOT want Win8.1 - would much prefer to stick w/Win7. And, I don't really need the Touch Screen either. Will admit, though, I'm not using it for programming. Purely for Emails, and CG work - as well as 1 or 2 games. The following two look like Good deals - both are Refurbs & have Win7: http://www.microcenter.com/product/444311/EliteBook_8460P_Windows_7_Professional_14_Laptop_Computer_Refurbished_-_Silver http://www.microcenter.com/product/444702/Latitude_E6420_Windows_7_Professional_14_Laptop_Computer_Refurbished_-_Black -K- -----Original Message----- From: ProfoxTech [mailto:profoxtech-boun...@leafe.com] On Behalf Of Dave Crozier Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 11:53 AM To: profoxt...@leafe.com Subject: RE: [NF] Laptop Dying & a Cheap Replacement ASAP... When my Macbook battery gave up the ghost it showed 3 led's out of 5 but (in a similar way to yours) was completely unable to hold a charge for more than 30 seconds. It is as though there is a critical point, below which either the voltage or amperage needed to power the device drops and all the safety features of the laptop kick in to stop any operation. As you say, if it is that old then you will notice so much difference in the speed that it could invigorate your programming skills!! Only one problem on the one you linked to and that is Windows 8.1, but if you install classic shell then it will become a windows 7 look-alike and easy to use. Win 8.1 on its own is somewhat unuseable without a touch screen which I assme the new device doesn't have at that price - and what a good price it is!! Dave - pretty funny you should put it that way - since a woman some years ago told me what is meant by "Shagging the Sheep". But, that's going way [OT] here - so, let me stay on topic... If there are multiple blue lights - but, only 2 of the 5 are blinking blue (I just pulled out the Battery now to check it) - I figured that if its Totally Shagged - then in theory - NO Lights would blink! But, that's just my WAG... -----Original Message----- From: ProfoxTech [mailto:profoxtech-boun...@leafe.com] On Behalf Of Dave Crozier Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 11:00 AM To: profoxt...@leafe.com Subject: RE: [NF] Laptop Dying & a Cheap Replacement ASAP... Kurt, If it is anything like the Apple Macbook Pro batteries that have the same LED indicators then it is a sign that your battery is, shall we say "totally shagged" - to put it politely! Problem is - the laptop is SO OLD - and its Literally Falling apart. I should show a pic of the left side hinge - which is completely busted up. As such - I think it's a Waste to actually throw money at this sucker. Ah - I should probably add one additional note - as I had a bit of a FUBAR situation with the laptop. As you folks probably know - a plane crashed on Long Island on Sun - which was the same day I was traveling back to LI from CA. Well, the plane crashed on the Tracks for the line of the LIRR that I take. So - in rushing to get off the train to then get a Bus - I put a Can of beer I was drinking into my laptop bag. Which was half consumed. I figured it would be OK - but, the Bag ended up at an Angle & beer spilled out - onto the laptop. And, the new situation w/battery not holding ANY Charge - seemed to occur right after the Beer FUBAR. Maybe I shorted out the Battery. FYI - on the batter there is a little rubber button - and when I pressed it - like 2or 3 of these little blue LED lights came on - out of a total of like 5 lights. Although - I don't know what it means - and doing a Google search on these lights - didn't seem to result in anything meaningful... -K- -----Original Message----- From: ProfoxTech [mailto:profoxtech-boun...@leafe.com] On Behalf Of Peter Cushing Sent: Wednesday, August 19, 2015 10:35 AM To: profoxt...@leafe.com Subject: Re: [NF] Laptop Dying & a Cheap Replacement ASAP...
