Mate, it works on species, and over millions of years. And if you've observed nature it favors diversity. That way the species may adapt when conditions change. When an insect 'develops' resistance to a poison, that's bullshit, the ones without resistance die and the ones who had the resistance in them get to breed, so next generation is resistant. But nothing 'develops'. This is to illustrate the high survival value of diversity.
