Whil, And I forgot to add that the internal resistance of the battery will increase with the drop in temperature which is one of the main reasons for decreased performance as there is more "internal energy loss" i.e heat generated.

Walter Mossberg keeps boasting about how he gets 3 or 5 hours on his 'endurance' tests, but I suspect that he falls asleep halfway through his tests, and doesn't realize that the battery is hibernating on him without him knowing it.
