Hi Graham! Well, yes! The ten commandments are even older! Imagine a community of people who build widgets for $10, selling the widgets at the local widget warehouse. Now, there are also food stores, hardware, specialty shops and filling stations in the community, but all of these depend on the widget warehouse and widget factory to bring the bulk of the community's income in. One day the widget warehouse suit decides to import ALL the new widgets from China and he does. The widgets now cost him a penny and he continues to sell them for the same price he did when he was getting them locally for $10. He makes a lot more money but all the local widget factory workers quickly begin to starve to death, and can't give any business to the rest of the community. The community imposes a $4.99 tarriff on each imported widget to relieve and maybe retrain the starving workers. Of course, no young people will aspire to become widget makers, unless they live in China. The warehouse suit meanwhile screams bloody murder about "rational allocation of capital goods to their most productive uses" and everyone thinks he is just a no-good jerk and I think he is too. Socialism collapsed? Which socialism? There is socialism all over, China is highly socialized and so is most of Europe. When the rich start to eat the poor people's dinner socialism is the only remedy. -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: ProFox@leafe.com Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
