My comment about "hold cards" is a reference to a poker game, like seven 
card stud, for example, where the first two cards initial dealt, and the 
seventh and final card dealt, are face down for the eyes of the 
individual player only.  As the game progresses the players will often 
refer back to thier hold cards when considering the worthiness of their 
cards before betting.
