Self Employed people do.  That was my point, even if it wasn't written well.

If you have 10 clients, all of them have to fire you in order to lose your job. 
 With one employer,  you're in much less secure environment.  I've never lost 
my job due to job performance, only budget cuts, but doesn't help when you're 
fired.  Then you have zero income, except for unemployment, until you find 
another job.

It's much better to have many smaller clients than one large client.
