To be honest, this is the first time I've incorporated a compression
tool since way back in the 20th century (I like saying that) when we
used DynaZip.  I tried 7-zip on the desktop but I prefer ZipGenius on
the desktop.

Craig's VFPCompression seems pretty speedy though.  I think once I have
some unit tests, it will (A) expose areas that can be improved and (B)
give confidence that when upgrading from one version of VFPCompression
to another that the functionality hasn't changed.
