Good Evening All: Since many hotels and internet hot spots are shutting off ICMP (ping) I am having a problem in one of my apps to determine if a server is available. The existing code pings the server and if it responds the mapping process proceeds. I know I can try and map the drive and if it fails the server: 1. may not be available (unplugged, power failure, etc) 2. or the user didn't enter their credentials correctly (probably the case...) How can I tell if a server is available without pinging or trying to map a drive. I thought about trying to get the IP address of the server but that didn't seem to work. It gave me the IP address of my box. Any other ideas? Thanks Regards,
