One thing I've noticed is that the amount of material available for beginner -> advanced follows something like a power law: it wouldn't hurt to take the five minute limit seriously - unlike my extremely over-ambitious attempt in http://www.jsoftware.com/jwiki/DevonMcCormick/PresentingJIn5Minutes - and give a lot of very basic examples.
