I guess what confuses me is that I thought J (or the OS, or someone) did this for me, already. I mean, I already told J (or the OS, or someone) what I want painted, and that's obviously what I also want repainted whenever required, until I change my mind (at which time I'll inform someone). My picture must be in memory somewhere, right? What if it takes a lot of time, or lines of code, etc, to draw? Given that J is single-threaded, is there ever a time a J programmer would need to implement a paint event handler, assuming he already painted his picture once, and didn't intend to change it? -Dan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
